In early 2020, a small group of innovators saw a need in our community, jump-starting what is now known as +BOX (PlusBox). Over the last four years, +BOX has continued to listen to our community and respond to their needs.

USDA defines food insecurity as “a household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food”. Families who are facing food insecurity might find themselves relying on traditional food banks to help fill this need, typically receiving a random assortment of shelf stable foods to sustain their household. However, families who rely on traditional food banks often lack adequate access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and other essential nutrients. +BOX focuses on nutrition security, ensuring consistent access to the types of nutritious foods, with an emphasis on fresh produce, that promote better health and well-being.
