+BOX has been providing essential nutrition to as many food insecure families as possible for over a year now. During that time, we have worked alongside school districts in the San Diego area to provide food insecure students and their families with 18,750 boxes, including 76,000 servings and 225,000 pounds of healthy food.
While we’re proud of the impact +BOX has had on the communities we serve, we also know that the need is still greater. We have ambitious plans to expand the program this year, collaborate with at least two new school districts, increase our weekly food distribution by 2,000 pounds, and support an additional 200 families every week.
To achieve those goals, we need a little room to grow, so I’m excited to share that +BOX is moving to a new warehouse facility in Carlsbad. Our new home will give us the space we need to grow our organization and our impact in the community. Starting in August, the dedicated space will be the new home for our twice weekly “pack-out” events, our administrative offices, and it has plenty of cold and dry storage space to increase the amount of fresh, healthy, nutrient rich food we can take in and pack out. This will be a game changer!
Our team is anxious to get settled in our new space, but moving to a new home is no small feat, so we’re asking for help from all of our friends, supporters, and partners.
There are a number of items that we need to get settled; some are small and some are as big as a walk-in fridge. Fortunately, we already have the fridge taken care of, but we did put together a list of the other items we still need.
